As the saying goes, you can take the boy out of Alabama but you can't take the Alabama out of the boy. This seems to go double for Alabama Thunderpussy's axe man extrordinaire Erik Larson. After cleaning out the closet with 2001's The Resounding, Erik is back with an album so straighforward you would swear it's the new ATP record in the flesh. Twelve new songs (well, eleven new ones and a cover of Elliot Smith's "Say Yes") that will drip like honey from your speakers. Mr. Larson didn't hold anything back on his sophomore solo recording. Once again Erik has created a dense, personal, biting album that showcases both his diversity and his thunderous- ly heavy grooves.
Whether you know him as the juggernaut behind the drum set in AVAIL from 1991-1999, the singer-drummer of sludge-core masters Kilara or the long-haired/long-bearded driving guitar force behind Alabama Thunderpussy, it's clear that Erik is a man of many talents. Much like with The Resounding, Faith, Hope, Love was recorded by long time friend and engineer Mark Miley (Alabama Thunderpussy, AVAIL, Throttlerod, Hot WaterMusic, Ann Berretta) at Glass Hand Studio in Richmond, Virginia and produced by Erik himself. This time however, Erik tackles all the other duties penning all eleven originals and performing ever single note of music captured here. In fact, the only sounds on Faith, Hope, Love that Erik isn't directly responsible for are a couple of additional vocals contributed to Smile by ATP's own Johnny Weills.
