Daniel

Daniel

Detroit-based artist Daniel is part of a growing movement of white kids who grew up loving progressive black music – Timbaland-grade R’n'B, neo soul and backpack hip hop – and who are now trying to make that music their own. His new record Extracolor is pop music remembered wrong. A wide, missed swing taken at R’n'B, Hip Hop and Electronic that never gets any of those genres right and in the process arrives at something wholly original.

Recorded in Detroit and New York and drawing on the talents of Daniel’s favorite musical collaborators, including Steven Nistor (Danger Mouse, Theophilus London), Melanie Rutherford(Black Milk, Pharoahe Monch, Slum Village) and Gregory Clark (Michael Jackson, Moby),Extracolor is the product of two years of inspired late nights, painstakingly corralled into something fresh, succinct and powerfully voiced.
