Southern fried hard rockers Throttlerod emerged from South Carolina in 1999 and featured Matt Whitehead (vocals/guitar), Bo Leslie (guitar), Chris Sundstrom (bass), and Jon McNabb (drums). Southern fried hard rockers Throttlerod emerged from South Carolina in 1999 and featured Matt Whitehead (vocals/guitar), Bo Leslie (guitar), Chris Sundstrom (bass), and Jon McNabb (drums). A four-song demo called "By the Horns" was recorded that same year and their full-length debut Eastbound and Down arrived in 2000 on Underdogma Records. Intense touring followed, as did a strategic move to Virginia and the eventual introduction of new drummer Kevin White, after which Throttlerod signed with Small Stone and released their second album, 2003's Hell and High Water. In 2004, they quickly followed with the release of Starve the Dead. They would later released Nail and Pig Charmer in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
